Has anyone here taken Phenibut?
It's OTC, and supposed to be similar to GABA

I have read all I can online about it and was wondering if anyone here has taken it? If so, was it helpful or should I not waste my money?

Currently I take Kava & Valerian combo if I have to go out. It is mildly effective.

Every other day, I take (1) GABA 750 mg. as I can't (personally) take it everyday because it tends to make my skin feel prickly.

I also have a back up - my anti anxiety medication, but I don't take it 3x/day like doc prescribed, instead I use it sparingly-when absolutely, positively nothing else will help.

Phenibut is... okay. I've tried it a few times, but it's not quite as effective if you don't space the times you take it out a bit (like once or twice a week, depending) because tolerance builds up fast. I've enjoyed myself most of the instances I've taken it, but the last time I took it (July of last year), I ended up vomiting my guts out. Granted, I'm positive I took too much of it and apparently it wasn't a good idea to mix it with grapefruit juice.

Thanks, thisportrait

I read where tolerance does build up quickly, so that's true, right?

Yeah, definitely. I waited 2-3 days after taking it the first time to take it again (just like the label suggested), and the effect wasn't anywhere near as euphoric as it was before.

But then that was for me. Every body is different.

I got some Phenibut a week or two ago and I love it thus far.

For the past couple years I've been taking Klonopin as needed for stressful social events. It's not a cure but it's much better than nothing. I don't take it everyday, just prior to severe anxiety provoking social events like parties, dates, weddings, job interviews etc.

I've taken Phenibut on 3-4 occasions now and it seems to work ALMOST exactly like Klonopin. The only difference being that it doesn't make me quite as drowsy, which makes it strictly superior to Klonopin IMO.

Just be sure not to use it every day. Like benzos you will develop tolerance and withdrawal symptoms. It depends on the person, but 1.5 mg of Phenibut seems just as effective as 1 mg of Klonopin to me.

It's cheap and completely legal. The Russian's developed it in the 60's to give to their cosmonauts for stress relief. It's essentially GABA that crosses the blood brain barrier (unlike a lot of other OTC supplements) and that's why it's extremely effective.
