Like many out there, When i was told i should go to therapy i shuttered at he idea. Cause hey who wants to go and pour out all your messed up thoughts to some douche bag just having you there for money right?
What i recomend is just researching and reading up on books on ocd, books on meditation and mindfulness, Acceptance and comitment therapy, Anxiety managemtent ETC.
Theres pleanty of self help books out there that are a great help and these will give you some great insight and things you can do to practice on beating O.C.D. Reading these books will give you the exact information a therapist will give you and you can dive into these things on your own(and save your self imense money in the process)
Go to your local library, with the internet these days you can pretty much find any book out there in your region and have it sent to your local library.. Oh technology, gotta love it  So it dosent really get any easier then that.
It always peeves me when i hear people say OCD's uncurable. This is false. Its just lifelong habits your brain has picked up that you've never had the knowledge of fixing and people often just accept it and think theres no changing it cause its there thoughts and thoughts just naturaly come to you so theres no fixing it- This too, Untrue
It isnt easy and for some it takes years and years. Some people never manage to get past it (but that dosent mean its not possible) Its all about re-teaching your brain, Meditation and mindfulness is great for this.
I realize this a pretty long post and that many of you wont bother to read through it haha, But it always blows me away of how many people have ocd and just except being miserable and dont research or practicefixing it. Cause if it effects your life so you should be putting a hugeeeeeeeeeeee effort into fixing it, many dont... some not at all.
Knowledge is the answer!!
Thoughts?? Anyone have anything to add, disagree with etc???
