Just from the preview on Google Books,

Social phobia: diagnosis, assessment, and treatment

by Richard G. Heimberg

(Social phobia: diagnosis, assessment ... - Google Books)

looks quite interesting.

For me, the best points are:

. modelling yourself as a social object in a negative way

(cf. NewPoster111 on this website about approaching situations
from a "first person" perspective, instead of the usual "third
person" one:
http://www.socialphobiaworld.com/curing-sad-the-social-anxiety-paradox-16565/)

. by assuming everyone dislikes you, creating the forecast dislike through
your own negative reactions

(a.k.a. a self-fulfilling prophecy)

The common theme is negative predictions about what others think, and then acting so as to prove yourself right. You can not know what others think, much less in advance. It is better to take each situation on its merits. So perhaps a first step is to keep an open mind, instead of pre-judging.
