Aging out

Sorry if this is a repeat thread but I am new to the site. My doctor, who is an "expert" in hyperhidrosis, has sworn up and down that I when I grow older I will stop sweating. I have a real bad case right now and am hoping this is true. Does anyone know/have experience about this?

Your doctor is not telling you the truth. Unless HH is a secondary problem caused by something else, you will most likely not grow out of it. I'm speaking from 50 years of having it.

The so called expert of a doctor needs to be more honest. I gather you are young and the doctor probably doesn't want to discourage you. Best to learn to adapt and read lot's of our back postings. We offer lot's of great first hand advice.

It went away for my grandpa, and for some others it will go away too. A lot of people have it well into old age though. You won't find a lot of reports of it going away with age here though because people who don't have it anymore don't think to look at a hyperhidrosis forum.

Yeah, I hoped I'd "grow out of it" too. I'm 70, so I don't think it's going to go away for me.

Most doctors know diddley about HH.

I think this depends what you mean by "grow older", if you mean that you are very young and are wondering if it will go when you hit your mid 20's, then I would say its pretty unlikely, if anything my experience and most of what i've read it that it gets worse as you leave ****rty.

On the other hand if by "grow older" you mean become elderly, then maybe, but there are many who never grow out of it.

its quite shame so many doctors(people we look up to for advice) seem to be ignorant on so many topics..i have never heard of out-growing HH, its absurd..i have had it forever, middled aged here..
