Based on my personal experience (assuming I have AvPD) I think that we put a lot of energy into trying to avoid criticism... And often we do that by being what we think others want us to be. So we are extremely polite and sweet and all that nice stuff... But nobody can be that sweet all the time without repressing some negative energy... and eventually all that bad stuff just accumulates to the point we can't take it anymore.

I also think that he believes that if he lets you know all that he has been repressing you will no longer want anything to do with him...

I'm sure it's no fun being on the other side of this, either. I know I have put my husband through more than his share of crap... You just have to decide whether you can accept the whole package and whether it's worth fighting for.

(((HUGS))) and sorry that your relationship is being impacted by this...
