A few special tips

Hey gang. I haven't been on as much for the past couple of weeks, but I'm learning a lot about how to eliminate the symptoms of shyness and social anxiety. So just for the hell of it, I thought I'd share some of these 'secrets' that have enabled me to feel almost completely cured for quite some time now. Here's a few tips that have helped me and can hopefully help you.

1. Numero uno - The first mistake most shy or anxious people make is being overly apologetic about their behavior or how they interact. Whatever you do, don't apologize for the way you are. Instead, just be yourself no matter what. And DO NOT be afraid of being perceived as a jerk or stupid, or whatever it is you're afraid that people will find out about you. They can take your or leave you.

2. Numbah 2 - Don't make attempts to get other people to like you. Of course when you wake up in the morning, you bathe and comb your hair in order to look/smell nice, but don't go overboard. Don't go out of your way to please people - most likely, there's absolutely no reason to do so. Because if they accept you for who you are, you've already won them over, and for those that don't like you - screw them ;)

3. Love yourself. I can't stress this enough. Even I sometimes fall short in this area. It helps tremendously for you to connect to your inner self. That way, it becomes less of an obstacle to socialize, because you don't need any extra acceptance when you know you've had it inside you all along. Sooner or later, you'll begin to adapt a "This is me, take it or leave it" sort of mentality that will enable you to shed your fears in social situations. And trust me, that's a good feeling right there.

So yeah. I don't know any more than you about these topics, except for the fact that after trying and failing enough, valuable lessons have been learned. At the end of the day, you just have to shrug it off, laugh a little at yourself, and be on your way. Life's not a heart attack, so it shouldn't be seen as serious as one. Or at least not on a regular basis. Lighten your load, and start enjoying your life. Peace and love to you guys

PS - if you're as thick headed or retarded as me (lol), some of these things have to be seen first hand, believe it or not. Sometimes you have to fall down enough in order to learn how to pick yourself back up. It might seem like a 'cruel' side of life, but that's just an illusion. The opposing side to this very coin is the brightest, most vibrant feeling you can ever imagine. So please, stick it through. I think you're all on the verge of this exact change.

Everything you said was exactly what I am discovering right now. Good work and thank you for your insights. You put it quite nicely; that was something I needed to see in print before the week starts. :D
