6 years later I am still experiencing...

*emotional numbness
*PSSD
*foggy brain
*slow wit
*zombie like

Anyone else fucked up from anti-depressants? I don't think I'm imaging this.

I've been taking antidepressants of one sort or another for the past 8 years, and I definitely think they are having a negative effect on my brain. My thinking seems to have slowed down dramatically, I am very forgetful (and I'm not old enough yet to be going senile), I just feel like I am somehow fogged-in. Years ago, before my depression/anxiety started getting so bad, I used to feel like I was very clever and quick-witted, and could think fast on my feet. Now I just feel like an imbecile, which doesn't really make me look forward to having to communicate with people. So, no, you are definitely not imagining this. :(

I've been taking anti-depressants on and off since I was a teenager, I know how you feel. I would have to add weight gain as well.

They suck...

I experience similar feelings such as foggy brain, slow wit and forgetfulness while using celexa and prozac since 8 months ago. But i haven't seen anything about these side effects in reported controlled tests of these drugs (SSRIs). Of course there are lots of reports about similar side effects after long term usage of benzodiazepines such as klonopin, alprazolam, valium etc. which i have used widely since 8 months ago. What do you think?

Paxil and Zoloft suck. They are overpriced meds, and only benefit the cold-hearted corporate pharmaceutical companies. Try Nardil, it's way better and cheaper!

I am suffering from this exact same thing. I am 20 and I feel like my life has been ruined. I feel like a zombie, I can't live normally because I don't feel like im the same person. I've lost my wit, my charm, my passions, my motivations, my emotion, I've been off paxil for about a year and it's still there. I use to have so much energy and desire, but now I am just a numb, pointless human being. I am 100 percent sure that this was caused by paxil and nothing more

There is something seriously damaged with our dopamine receptors or transmitters. All of my symptoms point to a dopamine problem.

I don't believe theres a dopamine deficency, but rather a change in neural pathways.

I am still researching though.[/i]

Whatever you do, do not use cocaine. Cocaine immediately boosts the dopamine receptors in your brain causing unbelievable feelings of pleasure and euphoria. However, when the high wears off, the dopamine receptors acually produce less dopamine.

I've taken paxil since 1999. No, we're definitely not imagining it. I believe these drugs are worse than the symptoms they try to remedy. I've had 3 failed withdrawal attempts.

Try Nardil. It has been around since the 60's and works.

Im pretty sure I took some crazy medication when I was younger, perscribed . And a article I read said it was 'brain butchery' hmmm not good. I did get night terrors where I would run scream mindless in the night where my brain tried to scare itself to death with mathematical and geometric shapes... looking back on it, it really is scary.

But I could say those effects you suffer from seem like the old depression+sleep deprivation combo.
