'The power of now'' by Elkhart Tolle.

It teaches you to not dwell in the past and not think of the future. The key of happiness is living in the here and now.

His other book, A New Earth, is also really good in my opinion. Each book helps to open you up to certain understandings, but it's up to us to remember these teachings and practice them in our daily lives. Most of his teachings, as well as many others, are centered around remaining present, and that is the most important thing we can do. Then you are not floating around in the past, or racing in the future, you're just here, now.

I have one with the same sort of theme..'Mærk livet' (Danish; translates into 'Experience life') by Bettina Vilmun.

I havent actually read it, but the back page says it's about living in the now and enjoying yourself..finding peace within yourself etc. etc.

Maybe I should read it? Thanks for getting me onto this.. :)

Reminds me of a quote from the movie Kungfu Panda...

"Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is unknown, today is a gift. That's why they call it the present"

:)

You should read some Buddhist books they have a lot of stuff about how to be an all-around happier person

Screw Eckhart Tolle. I've been trying to do that, in fact I've heard that before, it's not that goddamn simple. Perhaps something scarier would whip us into shape. If it was that easy I would have figured it out a long time ago.

I liked the book "how to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie. I listened to the audio book (available as a torrent!). The only problem is that it only worked for a week or two and then I was back to my old ways. But hey, at least it worked! I was more confident and started and held conversations. I wonder what went wrong though.... :-(

Yes, and Mr. "Kung Fu Panda" stole this line from a very ancient religion called Buddhism. And for those that don't want to think beyond death at all (cuz ya won't know 'till you get there - Zen Buddhism).
