Do people want to be friends with you?

Makes me feel anxious and underestimate my ability to be a worthy friend and make it feels like I have to live up to some expectations. As a teenager I remember instances of people being insincere about it, branding you a friend to guilt-trip you whenever you wouldn't "be a friend" to their...

Don't be ashamed that you're older and still come to socialphobiaworld.com

The perception of being old changes with age. As a boy I used to picture people in their 20s as old, and call them mister/misses. Now that I am nearing my 30s a lot has changed on how I relate to people older than me — I consider people in their 50-60s as still young.

    How are you feeling?

This is saddening, that's how it feels with my parents as well, my father barely takes any initiatives with my mother (restaurant or outdoor activities). I wonder what could have caused this with both our parents. Maybe boredom

    How are you feeling?

I relate to this. My father's disinterest in having a normal relationship with us led to the same outcome — We barely talk to each other and whichever exchange we might have is superficial (holidays/birthdays and settling for "Hi, how are you?"). "it's not what happens to you, it's how you perceive it" and

There is truth to this saying, the impact of one's mistakes is relative to how they'd be perceived and how trivialising you'd be of them. Suppose I am a musician performing in front of a huge crowd, me playing a couple of wrong notes would make me assume the audience's thinking I'm a failure...

    I am so depressed

I get where you're coming from — others taking an honest opinion too personally even if your intentions are in no way rude or judgemental. It feels like there is an unrealistic etiquette to abide by to seem "normal", even if it involves white lies. Technically, those who'd have it in for you...

    future plans

Never lose hope, things happen in unpredictable ways at unexpected places. It took me and my girlfriend more than 26 years to experience our first ever relationship. We might feel rushed by social norms, but there are in fact no absolute rules. I relate to your situation, my isolation and...

I appreciate your words NathanielWingatePeaslee :) It's possibly an impression I have of going "socially numb" after last year's situation
