Hello I'm new here

I just joined..... I've had social phobia for a long long time. Probably since about the age of 15 or 16. I am now 35 & just now thought I should look on the net to see if I could find a message board like this & hey whata ya know.... here I am.

I have also been diagnosed as having Agoraphobia & avoidence disorder...never new there was such a thing as an avoidence disorder, but after the fact it makes sense to me after taking a look at some of my traits.

Anywho here I am.

If not, swing by my place sometime and I'll show you how its done. :wink: No, seriously, glad to see you posted. It's a big step. It really does help to read other peoples experiences here and know you are not the only person feeling this way. I've never heard of avoidance disorder either. Did your doctor explain to you what this is?

No...Not realy. It was just an evaluation of me on one visit, I had to go see him in order to make a case for SSI. I learned more about it on my own actualy, through the internet & so on. From what I have read here so far, it seems that avoidence disorder is sometimes present with S.A.D.

I tend to avoid all together, the things that trigger my S.A.
I am however a work in progress, I can do some things now that I never could bring myself to do just 5 years ago.
