This actually happened to me today

While I was at work, I got a call on my cell phone from a casting director looking for contestants for a pilot for a new game show called "The Chase." Apparently they have it over in the UK and they're making a US version now. He told me they were having tryouts in Los Angeles tomorrow and if I was picked, I would get an all expenses paid trip to London to film the pilot. It would never be aired and I couldn't win any money, but I would get a free trip to London out of it.

I don't think this was some kind of scam cause I know that's what you're thinking. He never asked for any money and I also found his imdb page where it lists other game shows he's been involved with casting on.

The problem was he gave me such short notice and my passport expired three years ago, so I'd have to get it renewed and I'm not sure I could do it in time. Just thinking about all I would have to do in such a short time plus the fact that I'd be going to a foreign country by myself really stressed me out and made me decide to decline the opportunity. I feel bad for not doing this.

I know how they got my contact information. I play a lot of trivia and quiz games online and I went to an event in Las Vegas last year where I had to register and give them my contact info. The guy I talked to gave me the name of the guy who referred me and it was the organizer of the Vegas thing. I've also tried out for Jeopardy! three times and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? once. Jeopardy! is the only show I really want to be on though.

I hope this wasn't too long. I guess I should feel good that they contacted me at all. If this show ever actually gets on TV, you'll know I had a chance to be in the pilot.

Call him back and say you were just kidding!

Once in a lifetime sort of thing!

This is a big opportunity for personal growth and seeing London.
