Friend constantly texting/calling when alone with him

Is there really any way to discuss how I feel about him constantly texting or phoning someone in my presence when I'm alone with him. Weird thing is whenever we are together, going out on "dates" or just hanging out, we barely talk to each other. "Forced conversations" sound soooooo fake so I avoid questions to get to know him better. Sometimes, I just want to tell him "why are you wasting your time being with me barely saying a word, yet constantly texting or phoning your friends"

I barely say a word to him. I'm like that to everyone except feel most comfortable around him.

well if you guys are barely talking and he is texting all the time, it might mean that he actually want to talk. I don't see what's the big deal if you guys aren't talking. If you were talking and he was texting that would be a problem.

I know sometimes if I feel like I can't carry on a conversation with someone, then i start looking at my phone as if to seem occupied, so that I don't feel awkward not saying anything. He might be feeling that way, so he occupies himself with his phone, or he just isn't interested. But if he wasn't interested, then I doubt he would even be spending time with you, you know?

When i'm hanging out with someone and they are always messing with their phones, it bugs me, but only if I feel like they are ignoring me. Otherwise, it doesn't bother me. I would say something about it, because if you feel like it's taking away from your ability to have a conversation, then it's a problem.

Good point. Actually, when I do have something to say to him, he takes his attention off on whatever he is doing and listens to me. So, no, he doesn't ignore me.

maybe you should send him a text the next time you're together

use it to start a meaningful conversation that you're both reluctant to start
