I am having a hard time in picking and looking for a new job because of this phobia, I am practically unwilling to go and work with other people now I'm not sure what else I can do but I am becoming really depressed working at my current job in front of a computer with little contact with co workers and no contact with customers except via the INTERNET!!! can someone please give me some advice??

I'd like to change jobs as well, but its like being on one island and not knowing if I can survive the swim to the next island. I just stay on this one because its safe enough. Sorry missjesss, no help ::(:

Sorry to confuse you, yes I would like a job with some more contact with people but at the same time I don't because my confidence is so low, I don't know how to leave my "safe job"

my mum suggested volunteer work but I'm not sure when I'll have time to do that I still have a loan and bills to pay plus rent so I would need to be paid on a full time basis

Me too! I think of my job as a comfy prison. Better the hell you know...

I'm in the same boat, sort of. I am fine with the level of human interaction in my current job, but I also hate my job and want to get a different one--if I weren't too chicken to do it. My job, like my SA, is my gilded cage.

Do you hate the work you do or just the lack of human contact? If the latter, you might consult with your supervisor about changing your job up some to increase your contact with customers.

If the former, I think it's one of those cases where you just have to force yourself to do it (there's a lot of those with SA! :D). Just keep reminding yourself again and again how much better you're going to feel once you get away from the depression-inducing job.
