What is running in your mind, when you are in social surrounding

Im just wondering what are you thinking of when you are in a social surrounding, that is making you anxious? ..

for me, i am thinking "oh no"... thats not funny, i cant make fake giggle.
and it happens alot, i always seem to be around people who giggle alot at things, thats not giggleble.. and im feeling really awkward and uncomfortable.

i also end up thinking, i want to leave, i wish i am not here..
i just dont seem to feel happy in social surrounding..

my voice gets really low and quiet when i am really shy.. and uncomfortable

Do you have any tip on how to relax? :)

Personally I am always aware of how tense I am, and trying to mentally tell myself to relax, and urging myself to speak up, etc. It's a battle with myself. Every time.

Always a battle with yourself. And it's draining; and does make many social events not fun and I sometimes have those thoughts about wanting leave, wishing was over, etc. instead of enjoying the moment and letting go. A lot is physical tension that translates into internal tension, and vice versa.

Interesting that Lemur says "a battle within yourself" because I heard someone say that confidence is "the absence of inner conflict".......It's true though. When I'm feeling SA it is like a battle within. I'm constantly battling my thoughts and feelings to try to "survive" the social interaction......thoughts like "What will they think if I say this?" or "They probably think I'm ugly." All of this creates SA and lowers confidence.....but it is a battle. I try to combat thoughts like this if they ever come in my mind by thinking more positive and realistic thoughts.....like changing "They probably think I'm ugly" to "Not true. Most people aren't going to look at you and think 'oh he's ugly'. And if they did what would it matter anyways? That's their opinion. Plus they haven't seen what's on the inside yet."
