Full-time job possibility

So, I currently work two part-time jobs and am in a master's degree program. I haven't had a full-time job since I was 18 (17 years ago). I keep seeing people in my life getting full-time jobs. One of my co-workers/friends just informed me that she pretty much has a position in the bag. I'm happy for her, and the job she is probably getting isn't something I want, but I am a little envious. I have applied for a few full-time jobs in the past couple of years, and apparently would have been a good candidate (they were all the same position, just different locations of one of my current employers), but they ultimately found someone else whom they thought fit the bill better. I am now working in that position, only part-time. My boss has talked about me going into management once I finish my degree. I will have to start applying within the next couple of months, but even if I get a full-time job (or better yet, a promotion), it won't start for about 6 months. I will be really upset if I don't manage to obtain one of these positions soon. I'm slightly obsessed, and don't think I will feel better until I feel like an adult...

Congratulations on the chance, truly.

But, don't let yourself feel down because others are successful at something. It never ends well. You are you and they are them; each of you have your own set of skills, personalities, circumstances, and wishes. Just focus on how you'll succeed. Though it sounds like you've already got that part covered.

Keep it up and don't give up.
