Difficulty in giving eye contact

Was this your first class? If so, you shouldn't be concerned about not succeeding. I mean, you just started. Rome wasn't built in one day. Just being there was probably good enough for now, I know it would've taken me forever to sign up and show up at a class like that.

Anyway, I noticed I have trouble making eye contact with people I've known for a long time. When it comes to strangers I can easily maintain eye contact, but if it's family or a close friend I'll just keep looking at the surroundings, mostly to what's behind the person I'm talking to (I'll just look around their heads).

I already have a degree. I'm just taking classes to improve myself...but, this class might be too up close and personal.......My SA is getting worse.

I meant first class of this improvement ones. I assumed these were one of those self-improvement classes.

I'm trying to improve myself professionally. Update my skills etc. I've taken a number of courses since graduating.

I guess you'll have to take this as a secondary challenge to achieve by the end of your classes. Consider it one of the skills you have to improve.

I can't tell if you'll be able to 'master' this skill but I'm sure you'll manage to improve :)

........I seem to be getting worse. I've always been in socially challenging environments, to no avail.

My depression is severe right now. I better take something less stressful.

You could let your teacher know about you anxiety. Maybe in an email. That way he could better understand your situation and it might be less embarrassing for you. Good luck, it's a very brave thing you are doing!
