My meds mostly deal with my depression but have made almost no difference in my anxiety. What meds have worked for you guys?

I tried Cymbalta for a few months. It gave me horrible nausea. I'm on Zoloft at the moment, mostly to try and help with some obsessive thoughts. It hasn't worked, nor is it doing anything for the anxiety.

Not a single anti-depressant out of the 8 I've tried have been able to stabilize my mood and treat my depression. Ritalin came the closest to treating my depression but its effects wouldn't last 24 hours like a regular anti-depressant.

yeah, some of them do make you feel pretty weird. Usually the anti-anxiety meds that I only take when I really need them make me feel really out of it

It really just makes me feel like I'm slowed down and as if my thoughts are moving really slowly and I lose my train of thought sometimes. It's hard to explain... whenever I take them though I'm always saying things to my family like 'I feel like I'm forgetting something' or I'll just feel kind of mellow and I'll find everything funny. So basically I'm stoned lol

My doctors had me on Lorazepam for anxiety for awhile, which helped. When that prescription ran out and I was feeling depressed as well as anxious, they prescribed Zoloft, which worked wonders for me depression-wise, but didn't help with anxiety. I never had any side effects with either of those, not drowsiness or anything.

When they had me on Doxepin, though, that was a whole 'nother story, heh. When I took that one I was fine throughout the day, but then night would hit and I'd be feeling suicidal--I'd get through that night and be fine the next day, then the next night the suicidal urges would hit again. Finally I spoke to my doctor about it and that's when they gave me the Zoloft.

Meds are useless and dangerous, try ACT instead.

I wouldn't say they are useless. Certainly some people get a benefit from them. Everyone is different. Some people may respond well to drugs and not need any therapy. For others drugs may do nothing and they get a huge benefit from therapy alone. Still others may use a mixture of the two. They might use therapy for long term results and drugs as just an extra "kick" to help them out.

I've tried different types of therapy and actually got into this therapy group for people with social phobia. I only went twice though because I was to anxious to go to the meetings ::eek:: I would get panick attacks just thinking about going.

My mom seems to think medication would be a good idea. I'm just afraid take it ,but now I'm starting to have chest pains with my anxiety.

The only one that worked for me was Effexor XR and it was the first one I tried. After that I tried Celexa, Paxil and Buspar but they didn't help.
