hey guys

there are probably alot of people here with the same issue but its one of the things my SA affects the most.

how come when i talk to people, my mind goes blank and i never have anything interesting or funny to say? :? especially around my friends. i want to fit in more, stop being abnormal and stop bringing my friends down when they're having fun and being normal teenagers. i want to get closer to them and have more fun, but i just can't. every thing i say either has somethin to do with my problems (which sounds selfish) or something extremely boring. :(

i want to be normal, and i wanna stop feeling guilty and sad and left out. any advice or suggestions? :?:

Well thats an easy question. Its the anxiety. You like all of us over analze ever little sentense we use. The mainsteamers and the loud outgoing types constantaly talk nonsense but we seem to have a different standar for ourself than we do for other.

I feel boring, not because i am a boring person it's because my anxiety is stopping me from doing fun things which other people my age do. It's easy mistake a social phobic for being boring/snobby/stuck up but it's our problem which impairs us from having fun.

You're not boring. The hardest part about feeling the way you do is finding out about how others feel about you. Generally, anybody who's depressed, shy, or self-absorbed is just going to kill the mood. Have you ever been around somebody like that? Social anxiety is a less extreme version, but still makes a negative impact in social situations nonetheless.

By monitoring your self talk, you'll change the way you think. By changing the way you think, you'll change how you talk. By changing that, your actions will begin to follow. In other words, keep it positive; you'll attract more people.

Well, I think I'm just a boring person all-around, unless I'm talking about languages. D; But, no one else cares about them anyway.

I've been invited to a party this Friday, but I'm a tad afraid to go because I know I'm not very well-behaved person at a party-- I just can't enjoy having, well, fun.

You're not boring....Most people don't seem to be able to see past the SA...but I wouldn't say you're boring at all

PS: I never talk about my problems,in fact no one Knows about them!! besides you

I can totally relate! i say i'm boring all the time but i'm just really shy. when i'm with family I have no difficulty talking.

someone said news, which is good, but music is another good conversation maker. everybody loves music.

Hi milly,

From what i've seen, research shows that in the vast majority of cases involving SA, that it makes you think you're boring and NOT the other way around.

Good luck in your planning, you sound dedicated to it so i hope it really does work for you and at the same time giving us inspiration to do likewise :)

Take Care.
