i have a serious problem with waiting rooms of any kind mostly if there busy and not many seats left. as soon as i sit down my anxiety grows from scale of 10 to 1000 in a matter of minutes and i just have to leave.

my doctor said i could wait in the hallway which is even worse people coming in and out with me stood there like a retard :(

Haha me too! Man I can't STAND waiting rooms. I've cancelled apointments before because of it, and usually scope out the parking lot praying there aren't many people at the time of my visit.

And then they have those magazines there that I pick up and look at just so I don't have to look around at people. When reading a magazine is like the last thing one my mind, I just wanna get out of there!

Got too the waiting room and it was jam packed so walked straight back out :)

I never really get the experience, coz i avoid doctors and such, but due to my job i got to atleast go there a few times (just to drop off medication) and well yeah, i definitly feel anxious, knowin that everyones all quiet, and less focused on themselves, and on others, e.g. not talkin to each other, but gazing about.

Danuk...i hate waiting rooms too :!: ..some things that help me..i try to call weeks ahead for any appointment i have to set up..and book in for the very first appointment of the day...and i always arrive like 10 or 15 minutes early, so the office staff, receptionist, whatever..are still busily getting ready for their day, and hardly notice me and my nervousness..usually hardly anyone else in the waiting room....and always bring my own book..so i have something to read..or just to stare at and pretend i'm reading

Free clinics are the worst. You have to wait for extended periods and often have to come back mulitiple times.

I don't usually have much of a problem with waiting rooms, I'm usually more worried about the appointment itself so I don't really think about them.

I don't like waiting rooms either. You have to sit there like a plonker waiting to be called, while all the time your anticipatory anxiety just builds and builds.

yeah man i hate waiting in waiting rooms.... i always feel like im the center of attention.... now matter what i do i feel like im being judged. Like if im reading a magazine i think someone is thinking " oh, hes not really reading that , hes just doing that because he's nervous" or if im just staring at a certain point in the ceiling so i dont have to look around i will think that people know that im doing that..
