tiotropium update

Hi guys,

Sad news...I contacted Boehringer Ingelheim about the potential of tiotropium in the treatment of hh. As you might know tiotropium is an anticholinergic like glyco etc. It's used with an inhaler for COPD.

Because it's a quaternary amine like robinul, it doesn't cross the blood/brain barrier, and since it has a high affinity for muscarinic M3 receptors, in theory i should work well for eccrine sweat reduction, and it has the added bonus of an effective time of 12+ hours, so I asked them about it.

They emailed back quite quickly but unfortunately when taken in oral form the bioavailability for tiotropium is apparently just 2-3%, which means they won't be investigating it for the treatment of hh.
