Getting rejected is far worse, just adding up more burden/sorrow to the ones already present.

Rethink "rejected" and its associations. Maybe think "didn't connect with that person" or "they weren't the type of person I get on with". Rejected implies something wrong with you

or you can think of the other person has having lost out

then you can pity them instead of yourself

in fact, turn your whole thinking around so that you no longer are concerned with how the whole encounter affects YOU, but rather how it affects the other person

what can you give to them?

how can you make sure that they receive the full benefit of your existence?

be generous - grace the world with your presence!

I can handle rejection. But I don't go after people. I hate being alone though and it makes me want to do bad things, so I guess for me...being lonely is worse.

At the first place, I would say being rejected is so much worse, you will get into a painful situation, and you feel ignored, rejected, unliked by people.

But... If you'll never try to talk to people, because you CANNOT talk to them, is much worse isn't it? 😉 Isn't it great to have the courage of approach people to make some great friendships!? 🙄 Even though you'll get rejected many times, you will also get through it, because you learn and you will sure meet the right people to talk to. 🙂

Missing out on a friendship being lonely, well... I would better like to be rejected sometimes and make friends than being alone and never try.

This is what my SA caused a lot of times, so that I couldn't step towards good social opportunities, so... Taking risks is a great step:D

To face a fear, is a true strength. especially for us sp's

Being lonely (especially in the long run)..
Yet again after being rejected so many times sometimes it's easier to hide away and not try, if you know you're only going to be dissapointed again.

Being lonely.

Being rejected just means one person doesn't like you. Not everyone will like you. And really, if you try to talk to someone when you're not completely comfortable, they should understand that you're shy and respect you for making an effort. They shouldn't reject you.

Or maybe i'm looking at things too optimistically...

My fear of rejection keeps me from going up and talking to people.
