What possesions do you want in life?

What possesions do you want in life.
I have always wanted a house on acerage, and a fishing boat. I want them so bad! :(
It's so hard when you can't work towards it. At least if one was working, maybe one day it could happen. Though it's hard to get a well paid job now, as most people's income just get's them by.
I find it difficult though when i see people my age or younger with the fancy car/boat/house etc etc. You can't help but dream about it.

And don't you hate when people say (money isn't everything). Yes, you will still have many problems, social phobia etc, but gee it would make life easier. And you don't see people who say the above phrase, prepared to go back to having no money. No doubt many people work hard for it, and deserve it, but it's still hard not to be that person ENJOYING IT.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the people who says money isn't everything - or if your poor it might be. But for me it isn't. I really don't have any need for anymore stupid items in my life. Luckily here in Denmark the library is free, it's free to go to the hospital and most people have enough money be able to live alright. Hopefully everyone will be able to live like that sometime and hopefully people won't focus too much on what car or cloth you own.
"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. " - tyler durden

Sorry for bothering you with my meaningless pseudophilosophic thoughts 8O

I want my own car and my own place, a car so I can have some freedom, and be able to get around easily, and my own house, because I've never really belonged anywhere, and my family have always rented and so moved around quite a bit, and I'd like somewhere that really is my home. Other than that, furnishings for the house, and appliances (I love the idea of having my own kettle, and toaster and everything, silly I know).

Pretty much everyone wants some material things, which is understandable, as long as you don't base your happiness on material possessions, or want lots of extravagant things, it's normal to want some things of your own.

Yeh, i just wish i could accept what i do have. But i guess if i did have more money i could get those couple of things i want. And without money i can't. Yes, i do know that money isn't everything, but i guess you can't help but want some things in life, that you can only get with it.
There are things i do enjoy that don't cost much, but it's hard to find variety sometimes, where money could help.
God, i'm sounding like money is all i care about
That's not me, it would just be nice, that's all.

Agree with this. I would like to add that the more egalitarian a society is, the less value individuals attribute to material possessions, probably because they lose their value as indicators of a person's social status. In the poorest countries, where income disparity is great, the wealthy tend to put a lot of effort in showing their money off, in more developed places lavish spending might even be seen as bad taste.

I suppose America and Australia are somewhere in between these two extremes, so I suppose money can make you somewhat happier over there, not so much for the purchasing power itself, but for the social prestige it provides.

To answer nedkelly's question: I would like to own a small wooden sailing boat, preferably an old one, and sail it around the mediterranean sea. Needless to say, I can forget it for now and for many years to come, most likely forever... :)
Also I would like to own a citroen 2cv (an odd looking french car from the 60's) and restore it to running order. This I might do it one day, it doesn't require much money at all, just space, time, and patience (or money for somebody else to do the job :))

I want a golden retriever dog, I saw one this morning and it was really cute. Too bad, I already own one dog and my mom doesn't want to own another one cause she doesn't want to divide her attention to this dog with another one.

What do I want in life? A well paying job that I enjoy which would allow me to afford a nice house, a nice car, and a German Shepherd to come home to. Oh and my boyfriend would fit nicely in there too ;)

I agree, money would definitely make things alot easier...if we were rich, we wouldn't have to worry about going out and working and having to socialize with people, for one thing.
I want a castle...or a mini castle...to live in. Something creepy looking. In California.
I'd also like to have plastic surgery...lots of it. At least work done on my body...my arms, stomach & thighs need work, definitely. :x
And I want a cat...a housebroke one that's well behaved. And a dog that's also housebroke/well behaved...preferrably a bull terrier because I think they're so cute & unique looking.
I'd take a new car too...I guess one like mine, only newer(I have a Toyota Corolla)...or a hearse.
And lots and lots of new clothes!
My very own movie studio...all professional movie-making equipment...
I'd kinda like to own my own haunted house too.
I'm not sure what else.

Whoever said money isn't everything is lying. Money IS everything. Money is your health, your food, your power (if you have alot of it), your education, and its also how much time you have to spend enjoying whatever luxuries you enjoy (including thinking).
