What natural treatments have worked?

Hi! My Social Anxiety Disorder results in me getting a red flushed neck & chest. When I first discovered what it was, I read about propananol (Inderal) helping so I went to the doctor & got prescribed 40mg (which I was able to reduce to 10mg). This worked wonders & I was able to speak to people & be in stressful/nerve racking situations without any of the flushing. I was wondering if anyone has tried other natural treatments such as herbs that may work without the habit forming addictions some meds can cause. How about GABA? & just recently discovered acupuncture may be helpful. Anyone tried acupuncture? Has anyone had success with these? I don't really experience a full on panic attack just the red flushing. This alone can stop me from being in social situations because I fear that it's going to happen. Hope you can help & good luck to you all.

asking for advice

Congratulations for your courage.

You know you have not asked yourself "If I treat the symptoms ( the rash ) all my life....but don't treat the underlying cause....is that healthy ?"

Hello, I've tried l-theanine and it worked really well as well as B-vitamin complex. Celestials tension tamer tea also helped me a lot and it's only like 3 bucks per box. I've also tried 5-htp. The only downside too all these supplements is that you develop tolerance to them over time and they won't be as powerful if you take them regularly for a long time like for 2 weeks straight. So it's best to use them occassionally and cycle through them. I never tried gaba before but I heard lots of great things about gaba.

I can relate

To Chriswinnipeg... Your experience is identical to mine. I don't experience panic, but the blushing can be the hardest part in SAD.It's hard to know what I fear most, the blushing and scrutiny or the fact that people like to point it out! Knowing that there is stuff out there to help cope with the treatment process, helped me so much. Now I know what I need to ask my Doc. Thank you for sharing your story! You are not alone!! :D

Well according to that other thread, all you have to do is shoot some jizzy nizzy out, take a deep breath, then slurrrrp it down.
