Vancouver, BC Canada Iontophoresis

Does anyone know where I can access a machine to see if iontophoresis is for me. I live in Vancouver Bc, Canada, I have tried searching on google for doctors that might know something about this, but most are jsut aware of botox. I have also tried the homemade machines, and it just does not produce a sufficient amperage, no matter the battery/adapter! What should I do, I need to try everything available in iontophoresis, I really, really do not want to get ETS done.

THANKS!

hi, skillzx3, I would recommend you to purchase a commercial iontophoresis device, I have the same problem with my homemade one just like you, I could not achieve sufficient current intensity. then I use a commercial one and find it can supply enough current, after 8 treatments, I have seen some improvement.

hey ultrafost, what unit did you purchase? and did you measure how much mA was coming through with the homemade device? and how much is some improvement?
thanks =)

when I was using homemade one, I connected a multimeter in the circle, the current intensity is about 3mA under 24V power. Then I ordered an Idromed 5 DC, I usually treat my hands at 15mA with it. I always feel a strong tingling when I do treatment.
after 8 treatments, it seems that my hands are more warm and drier than before, however, it is still too early to say anything about its effectiveness, because the weather recently is cool and rainy. I will update my results as soon as possible.

good luck.

Here in the Netherlands, some physio's have ionto machines. That's where I went to get ionto first. Apparently in the past these machines were used more often in physiotherapy and some still have a machine lying around. Maybe you could check that out. Mind you though, they won't know much about HH, but on the plus side, they'll probably be happy to work with the machine.

Be careful though; one of the first times I went there, there was no current flowing through the trays, so the guy kept on pushing the amperage, asking me if I felt something yet...Then all of a sudden, he switched the thing 'on'. I saw the display indicating 53mA. I pulled my hands back immediately and I could feel the current 'holding on to me'. Had 2 small burns on my wrists where the current had entered/left my body. Went to play some basketbal later that evening to see if everything still worked (except for the hideous sweating I mean)...

Hey ultrafrost,
I believe we are very similar... no matter what I do to my water (or source of water) I have never pulled more than 4 mA.. usually around 2-3 mA. I have done so many treatments with different variable, changing everything about my setup numerous times. It has been frusterating to see absolutely zero results, no matter what I do. Where did you buy your device from, and how much was it? Also is 15 mA the max, and how much does it tingle? And this is going to sound like a really weird question, what does the feeling of non sweaty hands feel like... does your skin feel thicker, like sandpaper? Also please keep me updated with your treatments, as long as I know someone is on the same path as me, I have hope (I've been at this over a year now, so close to calling it quits... but I need it so bad) Thank you so much, you don't know how much it means!

To jezza,
Physio's, seems like a good idea, ill try emailing some... and is that how you got your sweating to go away?

Also a general question for anyone, how come when I use an adapter supplying a 24 volt dc with an ability to supply an Amp, I only get 3mA... and how do these commercial machines push the mA up so drastically? (I suck with electrical stuff, help. please.)

THANKS!

sillzx, I directly bought the device from Markus's website. now, I have done 9 sessions, some areas of my palms are now dry, I'd say it is about 70%. I will keep doing it for a couple of days.

when I started the treatment, I set the current at 12mA, I could feel the tingling. then after several sessions, I increase it to 15-16mA, the tingling was stronger, but it is bearable, your skin would have resistance to that.

70% decrease in sweat is what I can definitely live up with (do I say it correctly? I am not English speaker), but I am expecting my 100% dryness. LOL

good luck

hey ultrafrost. thanks for all the help!
how much did the device cost? how does the treatment compare to your homemade device (feeling) and how much did it cost?
And how much can the mA go up to? and does your water need to be hard?
and please keep me updated on the dryness, tell me if it gets bettter than 70% and how consistent your results are. This would be GREATLY appreciated. You do not know how thankful I would be.

Thanks.

I directly purchased it from iontophoresis-device.com, I'd say that the price is really not cheap. :( With my homemade one, I barely feel the current, but the current generated by the commercial one is much more stronger, I take a few sessions to get used to it.

And how much can the mA go up to? and does your water need to be hard?
on the user's manual, it says that the max output current intensity is 25mA, but I havn't tried it yet, I believe it would be insane. the water in my area is by no means hard water, the hardness index reported by our local water work is about 100-120, I am about to add some baking soda to see whether it could have better results. by now, my fingers are dry, and the sweat on my palms decrease, still a little bit wet.

I am hoping to see more improvement.
god bless.

good luck to all.

you have instilled hope in me =)
please update your progress, when you can
thanks

As far as the amperage is concerned... I could be wrong, but I believe your body has a lot of resistance, so the voltage (force behind the amperage or current) would have to be stronger in order to push the current past the skin barrier. So I would think that increased voltage would increase the amperage.

Skillz,

No, the tap water ionto didn't really work for me. The HH is still a daily problem, also courtesy of glycopyrrolate not being available here.

Hmm, it has been a while since I have been on this forum. I would just like to know of the progress of everyone, ultrafrost and jezza... have you guys stumbled on some miraculous cure?
and specifically ultrafrost, how has the ionto been for you, did you ever reach 100% dryness?
thanks for the replies.
