DEPRESSED (OBSCURE)
I know it's hard to learn by heart.
With lecturers lecturing and you feel like screaming.
You feel like working but where to start?
The test is before you and you're shouting 'what'?!
"What?! This was not what I was learning!"
And you just felt like freaking.
Freaky Fridays far, far, away.
In the lands where little elves did play.
And you realized your time been wasted away.
Then the time is almost up anyway.
And my friend, then you did pray.
The results are up and your heart is down.
And in your notes you now do drown.
Hmmm. Perchance next time a better try.
Sat you down you read and sigh.
And you asked... "I just had to take this module didn't I?"
You shouted why oh why?!"
And the neighbour told you to try.
"Try keeping it down."
And so you sigh.
You opened your laptop and surfed the net.
"Come little children, come to my world."
"Come to my garden of magic."
And you forgot your results dismal
When you saw that new gadget slick.
With a rueful smile you knew.
You surfed the net, but the net had you.
And you knew it was half past two.
And tomorrow. Tomorrow an assignment due.
And the words of your professor wise and true.
"Ah! My child, you haven't got a clue."
"Do you?"
And all around you knew it was so.
For lo and behold! You got an 'O'.
In a grade scheme where there is no 'O'.
All were amazed and you know
That they were saying I told you so.
And their speech depresses you so.
That you told them: "Grow up or go!"
But most of them understood not
Nor do they know.
So you strove harder and got an 'A'.
And indeed did you shouted 'Yay!'
And all were indeed joyful and gay.
And naught were the speech but "Hooray, hooray!'
So you discovered that most had 'A plus'.
Then indeed were you most aghast!
And you said: "Professor, professor, how can this be?"
Naught did he do, but laughed in glee.
So you persevered with renewed vigor.
But found yourself nodding in lazy slumber.
But day after day, you kept the endeavor.
And put it to the tests, one after another.
And this time you knew the formula.
The archaic formulaic that is to persevere.
You did receive the results in cheer!
And you repeated them ever after.
