trouble holding down a job

just a bit of an update if anyone has been following this thread...well i've still got my job but it's a struggle, and not enough hours to get me by..SO...i've decideded i'm going to attemt the idea of learning the web design thing when i have spare time, forget who it was that suggested it but thanks...as it turns out i happen to read a similar thread on another unrelated forum and someone else also mentioned they do web design as a big income earner, and also quit their job to do it full time...so i'll take that as a sign....it makes sense actually as well as i'm very creative, and spend a lot of time on the computer. i will still have to keep the part time job of course till i learn the skills of my new choosen profession ...thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread with your suggestions.

How did you motivate yourself when first starting out?

The need for basic survival motivated me. Beyond that, it felt like a good fit and I enjoyed doing it. Once I got my first sale (I charged very little while I was learning), that just motivated me to keep going and continue on. It's the same thing to this day. Each sale continues to motivate me to make the next one and so on.
