There is an excellent book by a Tibetan Lama called Lama Zopa Rinpoche, called 'Transforming problems into Happiness'.
It's about ancient Buddhist techniques on how to transform negative thoughts/experiences into sources of happiness.
It even has a chapter on depression.
Also there is a lot of advice that Lama Zopa Rinpoche gives on the following website: Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive, then click on 'teachings', there is a whole range of subjects (life problems) that are discussed and on how to transform them...highly recommended!
