Through my eyes (love poetry)

You think you're weak
You think you're meek
And what you see is bleak
But what is it you seek?

But see yourself through my eyes
And mayhaps change your quick surmise
Cause I see the sparkle in your eyes
And larks and springs and a thousand sunrise

So why is it that I hear your cries?
You'd rise above it all, so rise
I know you're strong, but you'd think me wrong
If only you'd see through these hopeful eyes

You speak not but a flowing chime
Lilt and melody and rhymes sublime
They heard you sing and so hearts now melt
You gave them wings and feelings heartfelt.

If the road of others is paved with hurt
You'd seek to help cause your passions stirred
We are not saints, not one of us
But you bring out what is best in us

Perhaps I'm blind and my sight is skewed
But I see you fine and the things you could
What I see... And if only you could
What I see... Oh if only you would

***

(Not in love or anything. But there's one really talented person I know who is extremely beautiful, smart, brave... but she doesn't really see it.)

What do you think would happen if you gave her this poem?

She'd pretend to not understand. Besides, I've told her straight that I think she is better than she gives herself credit for. A few times. She just laughs it off...

Still though, she seems to have a pretty good boyfriend. So I suspect she'll do just fine in the end...
