That's it, I've set my mind. I'm gonna do a CBT

Hey guys,

Right now my social life is at its lowest: I've got no friends left at all and live like a total hermit, never leaving the house.

Well, maybe that's what it took for me to finally take action. I'd like to do a CBT (more especially an Exposure therapy) but I'm kinda confused as of who can actually give them out of:

-psychologists
-psychiatrists
-psychotherapists

Can anyone tell me which one should I go to for this kind of therapy?

Thanks guys!

if ur in the uk, the best thing to do is to go and see ur GP he will refer you to someone. That way you wont have to pay for it.

My opinion is that CBT is flawed and ACT pretty much fixes the flaws. ACT is acceptance and commitment therapy. CBT wants you to change "negative" thoughts into "positive". ACT says just accept your thoughts "as-is" and focus on taking action instead. ACT is very new and there aren't many therapists yet. But there is a great new ACT self-help workbook called "The Mindfulness & Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety".

I've seen you talk about it quite a few times, and it's great you're so dedicated to spreading the word.

Still, I've got something specific in mind. I don't want a 'regular' CBT therapy, what I really want is exposure therapy which is way more radical.

I could do this by myself as well but I fear I'd eventually lose the motivation and stop (like it's happened in the past). With someone pushing me I think it'd be much easier.
