Hi guys,

yesterday I went out to gym. for the first time.
While the coach was teaching me how to use some sport machine.
there was a safty measure that measures heart pulses rate.

Some few social phobia symptoms were so enough to make pulses rate so high that made coach so scared and thinking I'm dying because of the exercise.
That thing made him decrease training level to minimum and kept asking me if I'm ok then I told him smiling that I am ok
then he thought some thing wrong with his sport machine and kept checking on wires and cables

Actually I was feeling so ok except this slight social phobia feeling.
This made me wonder what will happen if I got heavy social phobia symptoms while taking exercise on this machine. I think coach will think that time I'm having heart attack

I know exactly what you're talking about. That's the main reason whenever I get my heartrate measured by a nurse it comes up high, even though I'm in a perfect shape.

I think it's called white-coat syndrome. Had my BP come up too high in high school school (tests of any kind make me nervous, and somehow I'd convinced myself all my junk food eating would cause high BP.. self fullfilling prophecy). Anyway, the nurse called my mom who panicked and made me go see a doctor that day.

Well I don't see doctors anymore because whenever my pulse/bp is measured, it's too high and they think I'm about to have a heart attack. Makes me realize they probably have never seen someone with the same problem as me before (so much for "they have seen it all"). Oh well someday I'll be old enough that a high bp won't seem so unusual (and when I say high, it's like 140/90 or something), though I'm not sure the pulse will ever seem quite right.. it races!

I've had the same thing too. Didn't like being on the bike for fitness test, it measured heart rate, and worried my heart rate would be higher than normal. But it turned out my fitness is elite, so I try not to worry about it.
