probably the song for me would be "Welcome to my Life" by the Simple Plan

Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understands you
Do you ever wanna runaway?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
That no one hears you screaming

No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels all right
You don't know what it's like
To be like me

Chorus:
To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life

Do you wanna be somebody else?
Are you sick of feeling so left out?
Are you desperate to find something more?
Before your life is over
Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With their big fake smiles and stupid lies
While deep inside you're bleeding

No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels all right
You don't know what it's like
To be like me

(CHORUS)

No one ever lied straight to your face
No one ever stabbed you in the back
You might think I'm happy but I'm not gonna be okay
Everybody always gave you what you wanted
Never had to work it was always there
You don't know what it's like, what it's like

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like (what it's like)

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life
Welcome to my life
Welcome to my life

well the lyrics explains it all :)

the songs i woul think that would work well for a soundtrack imo is green day- boulevard of broken dreams, r.e.m- everybody hurts, simple plan- welcom to my life, matchbox 20- unwell, the killers- mr. brightside, rob thomas- lonely no more, three doors down- let me go, all those songs i can relate to on some level

Bent by Matchbox20 gives me that 'hairs standing on end' sensation. Has anyone seen the video? It is very cool indeed. :)

My soundtrack to SP (great topic by the way) based on lyrics/song titles;

Garbage - Only Happy when it Rains

Nick Cave - People Ain't No Good

NOFX - Monosyllabic Girl

Turin Brakes - Underdog

There are plenty more, but I'd prefer to concentrate on songs which perk me up therefore have nothing to do with SP but simply get your head bopping.

A happy kinda SA song for me that makes me think in a happy way is -
The Verve and the song is Lucky Man especialy the lines:

But how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?

Another one by the Verve is "One Day" :D

i'd have to say. how to fight lonlyness by wilcoHow to fight loneliness

how to fight lonlyness
Smile all the time
Shine your teeth to meaningless
And sharpen them with lies

And whatever is going down
Will you follow around
That's how you fight loneliness

You laugh at every joke
Drag your blanket blindly
Fill your heart with smoke

And the first thing that you want
Will be the last thing you'll ever need
That's how you fight it

Just smile all the time
Just smile all the time
Just smile all the time
Just smile all the time

Cool topic
I agree with a lot of the songs but particularly unwell by matchbox 20
I also love cranking up the music
Evanesence is great for it

Anastacia's Where do I belong? fits for me

Lightening strikes the pages keep on turning
Help me to be strong
I'm floating in a sea of strange believers
Where do I belong?

Where do we go from here?
I wish I could disappear
I'm a lonely soul
So far from home

The other would be Five for Fighting's Superman (it's not easy)

I have way too many that fit ...
Cool post thanks
:D

Trigue Lycee

Since I have SP, I'm usually a silent person. And because of this silence, there's something inside me that just wants to "blow out", and the song "Trigue Lycee" is so energetic (to me at least) that it helps me feel I really did "blew it out" :). Even if you don't understand the lyrics/language, the music is just great.

Here's a link to the song: http://www.safha.net/khaled/lyrics.cgi?songid=5 (there's a listening link in this page)

wow I wish someone had a collection of all the songs into a mix cd that you all had selected. Interesting selections!!!!
For me it depends, ill listen to music like Dr.Octogan from Kool Keith, it is trippy spacey for-out trippy rap stuff to get my mind away. Ill listen to Rap, soul or deep house, some Reggae lately Ive been into the roots stuff, Lately, I have been listening to some Downtempo and Trip Hop stuff too, I like listening to these type of music wspecially when I am at a large bookstore looking at cool hip magazines and having a place to sit tucked in somehwere at the bookstore.

no hero in her sky'

and from 'Cannonball'

love taught me to cry
So come on courage...teach me to be shy'

Dido and Greenday for different reasons...

Green Day because I think that everyone can identify with the lonliness that comes with SA. Also the directionless path life is taking, dreams dashed away by the reality of our own flawed thinking.

Dido for a take on relationship between a normal woman and a SA man. The gulf between them and us. Motive to change, to improve. Don't want to be aged with the same hang ups.

Green Day
"Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah
Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I walk alone
I walk a...

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...

"See You When You're 40"

I've driven round in circles for three hours
It was bound to happen that I'd end up at your
I temporarily forgot there's better days to come
I thought that I would give it just one more chance

Cos' I want, tonight, what I've been waiting for
But I found, tonight, what I'd been warned about

You think that you are complicated, deep mystery to all
Well it's taken me a while to see, you're not so special
All energy no meaning, with a lot of words
So paper thin that one real feeling, could knock you down

And I've seen, tonight, what I'd been warned about
I'm gonna leave, tonight, before I change my mind

So see you when your 40, lost and all alone
being comforted by strangers you'll never need to know
not sad because you lost me
but sad because you thought it was cool to be sad

You think misery will make you stand apart from the crowd
well if you had walked past me today I wouldn't have picked you out
I wouldn't have picked you out

now I've seen, tonight, how I could waste my time
and I'll be on my way, and I won't be back
cos I've seen, tonight, what I've been warned about
your just a boy, not a man, and I'm not coming back

'Anxiety' by the Black Eyed Peas and Papa Roach. Even though I'm not really into hip-hop at the moment, I still listen to this one:

I feel like I wanna smack somebody
Turn around and bitch slap somebody (bitch)
But I ain't goin' out bro (no, no, no)
I ain't givin' into it (no, no, no)
Anxiety's bash my mind in
Terrorizing my soul like Bin Laden
But I ain't fallin' down bro (no, no, no)
I won't lose control bro (no, no, no)
Shackle and chained
My soul feels stained
I can't explain got an ich on my brain
Lately my whole aim is to maintain
And regain control of my mainframe
My blood's boiling it's beatin' out propaine
My train of thought's more like a runaway train
I'm in a fast car drivin' in a fast lane
In the rain and I might just hydroplaine

I don't fear none of my enemies
And I don't fear bullets from oozies
I've been dealing with something that's worse than these
That'll make you fall to your knees and that's the
The anxiety the sane and the insane rivalry
Paranoia's brought me to my knees
Lord please please please
Take away my anxiety
The sane and the insane rivalry
Paranoia's brought me to my knees
Lord please please please
Take away my anxiety

My head keeps running away my brother
The only thing making me stay my brother
But I won't give into it bro (no, no, no)
Gotta get myself back now
God, I can't let my mind be
Tell my enemy is my own
Gots to find my inner wealth
Gots to hold up my thoughts
I can't get caught (no, no, no)
I can't give into it now (no, no, no)
Emotions are trapped set on lock
Got my brain stuck goin through the motions
Only I know what's up
I'm filled up with pain
Tryin' to gain my sanity
Everywhere I turn it's a dead end infront of me
With nowhere to go gotta shake this anxiety
Got me feelin' strange paranoia took over me
And its weighin' me down
And I can't run any longer, yo
Knees to the ground

I don't fear none of my enemies
And I don't fear bullets from oozies
I've been dealing with something that's worse than these
That'll make you fall to your knees and that's the
The anxiety the sane and the insane rivalry
Paranoia's brought me to my knees
Lord please please please
Take away my anxiety
The sane and the insane rivalry
Paranoia's brought me to my knees
Lord please please please
Take away my anxiety

I don't fear none of my enemies
And I don't fear bullets from oozies
I've been dealing with something that's worse than these
That'll make you fall to your knees and that's the
The anxiety the sane and the insane rivalry
Paranoia's brought me to my knees
Lord please please please
Take away my anxiety
The sane and the insane rivalry
Paranoia's brought me to my knees
Lord please please please
Take away my anxiety

The music really captures the spiralling out of control feeling you get with fear. Fast and aggressive, I guess it could also be describing panic attacks or manic episodes... But I know what it makes me think of.
