Hi, I found this great series of lectures on YouTube for anyone that's interested.
Dr Henley - It's a Brain Thing
There's 1 on social phobia;
It's a Brain Thing: Social Phobia: Part 1
It's a Brain Thing: Social Phobia: Part 2
and there's a whole bunch on other disorders, such as OCD, bipolar and panic disorder. There's one set called "Personality and it's Disorders" which was really interesting...he talks about how everybody's brain is just "wired" a different way, some are more selfish, some are quicker to anger than others, etc, but these things are not like a flaw or a weakness to be ashamed of, it's just the way we're wired. All we can do is try to cope and adjust as best we can with medication, therapy, or with our own will or whatever, to try to make the best of our lives and to not cause any discomfort to other peoples lives along the way.
I found it really interesting and quite hopeful...just thought I'd share.
