Hi, I am a student completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology at Swinburne University of Technology. As a part of my course I am completing a study focusing on young adults’ drinking motives. Participants need to be between the ages of 18 and 30 and drink alcohol in social situations. If you fit these criteria it would be great if you considered completing my questionnaire and being a part of my study.

If you choose to participate in the study, you will be asked to complete a series of questionnaires on social anxiety, alcohol use and motives as well as sensation seeking. You will be asked to describe two situations where you drank alcohol, a typical night out and a big night out, and you will be asked about your experiences related to these situations. You will also be asked to describe any situation in which drinking has allowed you to extend yourself or have a broader range of experience.

The questionnaire will be completed online at http://opinio.online.swin.edu.au/s?s=2574 and should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. You are under no obligation to complete the questionnaire and if you do decide to take part, you may discontinue at any time. However if you do take part, please complete the questionnaire honestly, to the best of your ability. All answers are completely anonymous; there is no way for me to check the identity of anyone who has completed the questionnaire.

If you are interested in completing the questionnaire please use the following link: http://opinio.online.swin.edu.au/s?s=2574 . Alternatively if you know someone else who you think may be interested please direct them to the above link, or send them this blurb.

Thanks for you time and for considering my study!

Drinking and Loneliness

Suggestion: go to an AA meeting ( google AA ) and you will get a list of meetings.

Very often you will hear stories of men and women who "did not feel good about themselves"....and then they found booze. And booze gave them wings to fly......
