shyness or social anxiety?

I apologize if there is an easy-to-find reference on this, but how could I tell the difference between shyness and social anxiety?

Is there a clear difference or is it kind of an overlap between the two?

shyness doesnt interfeer with your everyday life like SP does. SP is basically shyness X1,000 what do you think you have?

Anxiety can be very unpleasant, this ia an emotional state that involves a complex combination of emotion that includes fear, apprehension, and worry are really is a pain that a person should carry all the time.

For Shyness, it is something in a persons mind that he or she is afraid of,
or she has experienced it, that she doesn't what it to happen again, that is why she is shy. But shyness can be overcome with a strong faith and determanation.

Check out the Wikipedia on Social Phobia for some good info on this question. There's obviously quite a bit of overlap.

Overall I'd say shyness is about being inhibited and not knowing what to say, but it doesn't have that horrible feeling of anxiety that goes with it. You may get nervous/embarrassed, but the anxious feelings aren't dominating the situation and being the main problem. Also, a shy person won't be as nervous about doing things in advance, while someone with SA will probably be a wreck leading up to it.

Yeah good point, basically if you feel nervous about a situation in advance, say like a week or so then you would be classed as SP, yet if you feel calm before the situation and then shitty in the situation then it is probely just shyness depending on how frequant it is. There really isint a major diffrence between the two, because when i was just shy i usuarlly had the same old bad experiances as i did now with SP.
