good morning

I wonder if you also have such a fear of school. I have. Even when passing near school, not entering it, i'm very anxious. And entering and being there is for me a anxiety/mental torture, I can say it well.

I consider homeschooling. Is it good idea? It would be a victory of the phobia above me, I can't let it.

I hate pauses, it is great anxious time for me. Wasted.

and you what think?

good bye you

I wouldnt really say i have a fear of school, i have the fear of the social group aspect of school. If its a school in which i dont go to i will try my best not to go near it, because they would all be strangers, but i could never start a new school.

I used to hate school. Well not the building in itself, but all the social aspects related to it. Yes, it was hell. Not at the beginning tho. But most of the time it was torture.

I have a huge fear of school, due to bad experiences in 4 different schools. I started going less and less, and dropped out of college quite recently. I still want to go to university though, because I believe it's a huge chance to meet some new people, and I don't want this fear of school to hold me back in life. My aim is to have overcome SP in the next 2 years, and in the meantime I'm considering teaching myself psychology and sociology at home, and possibly getting a tutor to come to my house for another subject. 8O

I have no fear of school itself, and I love education. It's more the people inside the school that I'm afraid of :(. You can work your way through it though if you try. It's definitely worth it.

i remember a few lunchtimes, i locked myself in the toilets when i couldn't find some of the friends i tended to hang out with

i was pretty friendly with quite a few people but many of them had their own groups of friends (containing people i didn't know too well) & i didn't feel confident enough to approach them when they were all together, but i also didn't want people to see me hanging out on my own

this only happened maybe 4 or 5 times in total i think, but was definitely one of my worst memories, especially when someone asked me where i had been all lunchtime!

that's one good thing about uni; you have more freedom to just do whatever you want, & there's much less pressure because it's a less confined & restrictive environment

overall, i have mixed memories of school

for the most part, i was fine, but there were definitely moments i did struggle with social anxiety for sure

Hi,
I think that anxiety related to school generally - in its social and human aspect - is very typical in social anxiety. Spending few hours among other people in similar age, who are usually very opened, social, talkative and louder than you (which is but normal in the school age! :x) can be then very stressing and anxiety-causing; especially breaks (pauses). as you've written, are the wasted anxiety-filled time (at least for me); I always wait unpatiently on their end. :(

I can't even imagine normally, why almost everybody else (non-phobic, of course) likes the breaks so much... :? I have no idea to do then anything clever, I almost have nobody to speak to (if I would want it) or even the topics which I could talk about with others. This phobia makes me too different from standard people...

I've never been to any normal school/class disco (I was to some in the kindergarten or primary school, but it rather doesn't count...) It's ridiculous... :?

But exactly - homeschooling has probably both pluse and minuses, as you - if I remember well - have somewhere written. It might be some kind of the phobia victory; you should consider it deeply.

Cheers!

School for me is the worse part of the day i dont know what people think of me. I walk through the halls with my head down and at lunch i just sit in the hallway by myself for an hour and read something. Everyone in my school knows eachother or are connected through friends in some way so this doesn't help at all.

I've pretty much always hated school and would get anxious a lot getting up in the morning. I wouldn't be capable of going to school, so I homeschool.

Yes, I have a fear of school..
..and I hate pauses as well.
We also have some days with no classes in the middle of the day..
The teachers make us do project-work, and leave the grouping to us.
..and then we have the school-bus; It`s always late.
So I have to stand there, all by myself..
Sometimes I panic, especially times when I have to walk by bigger groups or gangs. If I`m early for class, I`ll go to the bathroom..
That way I can go directly to class

It is easy to be invisible

Lectures are easy and enjoyable becose everybody is contcentrated on the lecturer.
More personal the learning protsess gets the more harder it gets. Tests are hard but you should try to defend your work infront of everybody. Only thinking abot it makes me want to quit school.

Pauses were easy when I was smoking. Now I do not smoke and there is nothing todo enymore.
