Saw the Doctor today

Well I saw my physician yesterday and she recomended that I see a phychologist for my problem. I was worried that she was going to say that I was just a shy person and there was nothing to worry about. On the other hand her recomendation made me a little worried at the same time. I have never seen a psychologist before and I don't know what to expect. My physician did not diagnose me but she was concerned that I may have a personallity, anxeity, or phobia disorder. What can I expect when seeing a psychologist? What treatments and medications are available? I never thought my shyness/phobia could be an actual disorder. I'm a little nervous right now, but hope this is a good start to a new life.

I'm going to a psychologist. She's helped me a lot. It really helps to talk to someone about this who really knows what's going on and how to help. The one thing about treatment for this though is that to be treated, you have to face your fears. So at first it can be sort of stressful, but it only gets better.

i went to see phycologist on a few visits last year ,, and told him what the deal was all my troubles cant relax etc ,, all he did was gave me a few leaflets about classes i cud attend in town and talk to people with the same problems etc .. but i never went to any (dumb) probably but yeh they just councell ya and ask how your feeling etc . and ask ya various questions to rule out any mental illness like bi-polar or pchiz.. but yeh they can be helpfull.some more than others.
