Hi guys,
just want to know if someone has ever experienced this drug.
Reboxetine is a Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor (Edronax,Davedax is the name here in italy)...it should be a stimulant.
My doc prescribed it right this afternoon. I actually take mirtazapine, that is good for anxiety, but not enough for depression. I have great difficulties to get up in the morning and i'm often tired and sad..

Anyone knows it? Thanks

I have been on Reboxetine. To be frank. It did little for me. After taking the drug for 6 weeks. I felt no difference at all. I have also been on mirtazapine. This drug did help a little with anxiety, but no more than the usual SSRI. However it had side affects. I gained 15 kgs in around 2 months. No kidding this drug affected my appetite to the extent that I was buying 6 blocks of chocolate every 2 days. I couldn't get enough of sweet foods. You will have many people tell you what worked for them. What works for someone doesn't mean you will get the same response. My advice is this. Follow your doctors orders. Be honest with him. If you are not happy with the drug you are on tell him. My doctor started me off on SSRI's. Then I ended up on Klonopin and Nardil. Again being frank. The Klonopin and Nardil were the most effective. However. They had major drawbacks. Nardil (dietary restrictions), Klonopin (addiction). The modern approach these days is to combine various medications to get the best result. This combined with CBT, Visualisation and courage may help you manage and improve on your situation.

reboxetine has nothing to do with social anxiety. It is one of the so-called "new generation" drugs which are developed for treatment of depression. No comprehensive studies on it have been conducted to understand if it works for social anxiety or not.

I guess the doctor's are prepared to prescribe these drugs anyway. It's evident in many situations that drugs approved for one particular disorder have also been found to be beneficial in related conditions. There is a common link between various mental health issues. Let’s not forget that.

I agree with some parts of Johno's comments, however we should also not forget that some drugs could even be worsening your situation.

For example, from the neurobiological perspective, social anxiety disorder is thought to be in a not-fully-understood relationship with the neurotransmitter dopamine. It is about the number of the D-2 receptors in the brain and this has many effects on human behavior, not only what we call social anxiety.

Now, in a recent study it has been found that some SSRI's could increase the level of free serotonin in the brain, however they may also be inhibiting the level of dopamine in the same time. That is a bad thing, because some of the social anxiety cases may be due to the lack of enough dopamine in the brain.

As a conclusion, you never know exactly what a drug would do for you. This is what I am trying to say.
