I'm apart of the CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) so I get free mental health care. Unfortunately, if you're not apart of some kind of program, then you end up paying a ridiculous amount of money and have to wait on a huge waiting list.

defenitly get a good psychiatrist, research the best medicine out there by your self with the dosage, tell your problem and if there is any medication, don't tell them immediately which medication you want because those ignorant psychiatrist tell and think they are specialists while in fact a kid age 12 can read about the medicine and knows more then psychiatrist in a few days, and don't let them diagnose you with other disorders because they simply can't they can't tell something so complex after 30min talking and you are the most who talk.
But its a shame they are the only one prescribe easier antidepressants, benzo, lyrica, buspirone and maybe d-clysorine if they have done there home work. Most family doctors are doing difficult with prescribing because they either know little about all the meds out there for anxiety my own doctor didn't even knew lyrica existed while its approved for generalized anxiety disorder with little to none side effects and didn't want to prescribe me because she didn't knew the med + If I really have generalized anxiety disorder because a so called spealist (psychiatrist) need to diagnose that... so stupid is there some science behind worrying all the time, extreme muscle tension, diffuclty swallowing, breathing difficulties, tingles in the hand etc.....

I guess its the world wide computer information about every subject, which makes the intelligent people more aware about the imperfections the so called learned specialist have and sometimes the patient know more about there problem and the solution to it then there own psychiatrist/doctor because they aren't simply up to date with the latest publications or don't have the time to read it all and compare it with other information...most of the time they are to busy and just have standard protocols to follow and won't give new or different medication, they aren't even willing to research the medication and give the patient better threatment they deserve, its cost them time and for them patient is just a number with a problem they see every day coming in and out, and often they fake empathy because they have become emotionless to suffering from a patient after years of doing it.

You can better prescribe yourself, you know your self the best....but hopefully you find a good psychiatrist who has done his home work and is willing to accept your information so you get the best threatment.

psychologist are basically worthless, they are very expensive and they teach you things a 8 year old kid already knows, think positive, do some breathing excersises and do some exposure here you got it in one sentence, which they learn 4 years at the university ( they only learn commonsense things, why or how it works....its the same like a mother tells to her daughter she don't need to be afread of spiders because they won't hurt you....If you don't want to be told commonsense like a child then a pschologist isn't for you. There is plenty information out there free to download better then a psychologist teaches you and can do it all alone.
