Propranolol-beta blockers ???

I've been using propranolol 40mg in quarter or half a day for 8-9 months regularly. It's really wonderful to see that there's no anxiety, no shaking nor panic.

That pills made me the 'real me' sometimes I can't even recognise who I am and I became so brave and talkative and joined a group at university. I made a lot of friends there and made also a girlfriend. However our relationship is over now after three months and it's because of sth irrelevant.

Anyway, I realised that something is wrong with me for 2-3 months and I feel a bit tired, have no excitement, no wish to do sth new and I only wanna sit, I feel so numb. Ok I have no anxiety no stress but I dont even lough as usual. A few days ago, I was watching 'How I met your mother' 2. season and was hardly loughing although I've found it so funny before. I think that drugs make kinda depressive mental, I don't know but I clearly see that sth is wrong. Guys, have you ever feel like this when you're on beta-blockers?

I cant take beta-blockers because my blood pressure is already low to begin with so I take benzos instead.

I take Propanolol, but only when I need it for a certain situation (not daily/regularly.) My GP prescribed me a box when I was due to take my driving test (2 years ago) and I'm on the same box, so I don't use them much... but they definately do help.

With me, I find these meds just give me confidence in a placebo sense if nothing else... but that's not to be underestimated!

When I do take Propanolol though I still find myself laughing along at jokes and stuff, but then I don't take it daily... so I dunno.

i used to take propranolol and i agree with what you say, especially about the shaking and the numbness its like i can sit staring at the tv for hours relaxed, without actually watching it or taking anything in

i stopped taking them because they made me really sick the next day

Thanks a lot, I thought that I finally found the miracleous drug for me but it seems that it's not good enough. I stopped taking it in order to see the changes but I guess I won't be able to go on without it. However I think I feel more energetic or it's just psychological  time will show

Are you taking other medications such as anti depressive together with the propranolol tablets? They can increase the side effects of the drug.

Have you talked to your doctor about the side effects you are having?

Yes I'm using two kind of low-dose anidepressans at the same time and yes I talked to my doctor about the beta-blockers and he confirmed that propranolol is one of the drugs which cause to depression but he said that 10 mg a day is nothing to feel depressive.

And also he always comments as if the drugs are all placebo, than why are these meds are being sold? Docs are all same...

Your doctor is right, 10 mg a day is a very low dose but never the less it can cause depression if used together with an antidepressive. The thing is that if just one person get a depression when they are doing the testing of it, the pharmaceutical company has to write it down as a side effect, at least where I live.

Well it is kind of placebo, as it does not remove the anxiety itself but removes the physical effects of it.
