I wish I had a video for this song Luv Mason!

Drinking as Religion
by Mason Jennings

After all this useless fighting, after all our schemes
We could sense a final battle and started picking teams
Due to lack of good direction, i fell in with thieves
And took to drinking as religion and landed on my knees
Truth that starts as understanding finds you in the night
And circles all around the ceiling a frightened bird in flight
After spending hours beneath it, everything comes clear
Truth will pose no danger to you, what hunts you both is fear
Somewhere in our everafter telephones still ring
Somewhere in future journals, love still means something
I have learned a mighty lesson from this change of plans
Loss is brutal, i can't stand it, i wonder how you can
And all the while there's dogs a-barking
Streets are talking out my window
Out the light and the snow is flaking, hearts are breaking
Words are making a mess out of these
Thoughts i'm thinking, boats keep sinking
It's drown or keep drinking
And if this darkness came from light
Then light can come from darkness i guess
If this darkness came from light
Then light can come from darkness i guess

Very nice indeed. Almost like formal poetry.

I know this song is low pitch for the most part, but make sure your speakers aren't too high when you listen to it because it gets pretty loud at the end. Just a heads up knowing the mellowness of this song is going to tempt listeners to put their speakers higher. Don't make the same mistake I did the first time I listened to this song ::p:

YouTube - Nine Inch Nails - Hurt

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of ****
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end

You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

This is my life in song.
You gotta love Trent Reznor~<3

Not normally my type of music,But I have a love hate relationship with that song. It's so raw and emotional, but it's a little too close to the home lyric wise and depresses me If I listen to it lol.Still awesome song!

The live version is amazing, I’m talking about the video that was shot with the decaying animal behind him onscreen.

But I agree, that’s one of those songs I absorb and then have to digest, so I rarely listen to it. It pulls me down.

I will have to look that up at some point :) I can imagine it's quite powerful live with that sort of imagery.

And thanks for the message,it is a hard song to digest.Though again I guess that's a compliment to the song In a way when it can affect you like that.

*Edit,Ninja'd by Malice :p Thanks I don't need to look it up now.

Here is a live acoustic performance of "Round Here" from the Counting Crows on the Howard Stern show. If this doesn't make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, then you have no pulse.

Counting Crows is one of my favorite bands. I’ve always said that the first few lines of “Round Here” are the best opening lines to a song ever written. Excellent stuff.
