One of my best experiences in overcoming SP was after taking Paxil for a while. I had started becoming more open, and had been going out to bars all the time with my friends. There was an extremely gorgeous and sweet bartender that worked at this one bar, and I found the nerve to just ask her straight out if she had a boyfriend and if I could have her phone number. She said she did have a boyfriend though (and may have lied as a rejection) but no matter. I was just glad to have the nerve to be so forthcoming and confident, which is a rarity for me.

I get to the checkout right, and oh my god 8O this girl was so hot i froze up couldnt speak the full works, but to be honest i kinda found this amusing afterwards rather than beating myself up about it, i mean she was that fine even if i didnt have sp i probaly would of froze up  .Anyways got a taxi back and actualy managed to have a good conversation with the guy.So i kinda feel like i achived somthing, but im gonna keep at it and try and go out tommorow

Hiya, its not till next monday its the 13th.Still not lookin forward to it and with it being on the 13th its a bit of an unlucky number so if it goes wrong for me i will blame it on that

I keep talking myself out of it but i then need to talk myself back into it if you know what i mean, and if i dont go then nothing is going to change for me thats the way iam trying to look at it,but i will let ya know as soon as i get it over and done with

Sup Scottish :)

Seriously get your arse down that canal :!:
I can honestly say that taking that walk today was one of the most posative things ive done for a while,I walked for about 3hours for about roughly 9miles at a real steady pace, the actual walk was really relaxing which suprised me, but ive been nicley tired all day since, which has reduced my anxiety plus given me more of an appetite and ill reckon ill get some good shut eye tonight.

I would realy like to do it but i know i probably wont,i would have to get up about 6 in the morning that way i would know for sure there would be no one about  but thats too early for me especialy on a sunday.

Sorry for sounding like your shrink, you must get enough of all that stuff from him :( how often do you visit him, does it help any having him/her too talk too?

Haha you lazy git! only messin im the same, i got down there for about 2 in the afternoon, and yeah when i first got down there, there was a few dog walkers and a couple of boats floating along, and yeah bang it triggered my anxiety off when i walked past someone, but for the 1-2minutes of anxiety maybe every half an hour it was defo worth it for the benefits.
Plus i set myself targets, like with the first couple of people i put my head down and said nothing, then i managed to nod and grunt slightly, and on the way back i was even saying hello to people (a slightly shakey hello i must admit)

Anyways i was only jesting with the shrink comment i appreciate you asking honestly  .And no to be honest it doesnt help at the moment, but i think he is a crap shrink cos all he does is ask me a few questions and throw some more meds at me,but im changing to a different one so im hoping she will help more :)

....this morning i drove to my sister's to have her do my hair (positive), stopped at Tim Horton's drive thru for coffee for us (positive), didn't act like a total dork at the stop lights 8O (positive), and left from her house a few hours later with a perm in my hair and probably looking a little like an upside down paint brush with legs (not so positive  )

Glad to hear you done some positive stuff maggie :D i know what you mean about acting stupid at traffic lights,i love driving so much but i hate sitting at traffic lights for some reason,i go all panicky and dont know what to do with myself or where to look,i even turn the rear view mirror away from my eyes so people behind me cant see my eyes

hey Scottish...i am such a freak at traffic lights...i always try to pull up just short of where guy beside me is, so then they can't look directly over at me 8O ....i'm so happy when light is green and i don't have to stop....and i'm obsessed with checking my oil and antifreeze and checking things under the hood, cause i really don't want to stall or break down in the middle of traffic...yikes, that's one of my worst fears  p.s. thanks for the vote of confidence :) ...i'll get used to this funky new hairstyle
