nothing to think about

All the time, trying to stop and replace my automatic negative thoughts with some thing else. but i don't know what.

It is so damn hard to manually override this automatic continual negativity. Its like I have a mind block to prevent me from thinking positivityly.

Mental block stopping the positive thinking. What to do? Does it get any easier over time?

I dont have much to think about, yet I have too much time to think..........

i know it can be so hard to think about anything else than your SP, especially when your SP prevents you from doing so many activities. some time ago i used to just sit at home and think about how much everything sucks - but then i realized my shyness doesn't mean i can't have hobbies - so i started to read, write short stories and even work with disabled children. so that now i have plenty of stuff to think about instead thinking about my SP.

I get like that. It all becomes an obsession. When I was really bad I tried to do something to occupy my mind. I know it sounds stupid but i got into gaming. Started playing on Play station, games like Tomb Raider (years ago now) But they were games i needed to think about, find clues etc. After a while it all seemed to get better.

After this I also started with gaming online, and later again designing graphics. All these activities occupied me. It gave me something else to think about. It did help me. So now, when things get tough, I get creative.

Its just an idea and if you try this or something similar, I hope it helps

I find the best way depends on where you are. If you are at work totally focus on that you'll be to busy to worry about it. If you're at home just watch to TV or do some other activity that interests you.

I usually play video games or listen to music to take my mind off. I also try to think what it would be like with SA, thinking what its like from another's view.

whatever you think, you get.

You say you ''can't'' think of anything else. Maybe you just dont want to even try, you made up your mind. There are theories out there that people want to relive all the past pain , hurt and rejections that are stored in your mind...it is like a drug that you can get addicted to over time. YOU CAN fill your mind with positive thoughts by reading stories, newspaper clippings, books, magazines and word of the day toilet paper. YOU CAN choose to listen to positive and uplifting music (doesnt mean relegious) like new age , jazz, pop, etc. YOU CAN choose to watch inspiring tv and movies, comedies, documentaries on how other people live on this planet, etc. YOU CAN choose to search out positive people to be friends with, who talk about the good things in life and encourage and inspire you to want to be a better person. When you do all these things, in time, you will gain better control of your mind, your thoughts will improve and you will see that what you put into your mind, good or bad..is what you get in life. Stop waiting for a magical fairy to improve your situation and make you happy and look deep within your mind, what makes you think negative and unhappy ..then take action to be who you want. IT is all in your mind, you can have mental misery or you can have calm & positive thoughts and actions. :)

I like this advice. I can only tell what works for me and that's never having a space in time where I do not have a good book to read. I'm a bookworm, it's true. When I'm having an exhausting terrible day, I just remember that on my nightstand is a wonderful book and when I get home at night I can put on my PJs and fall into this otherworld inside a book. It makes my life a little bit easier, it gives me an escape.
My little brother thinks I'm such a dork--- I don't have much of an argument against that statement... But hey, what works, works.

I encourage you to continue looking at your mind.

Looking at your habitual reactions and what is really going on in your mind is what will lead you to finding real mental freedom in the future. Many people waste their lives on meaningless things accomplishing no more than what animals can do. Those who truly master their minds find an inexhaustible happiness not known by others.

For a negative mind to cease, another mind must appear. So when you notice a negative mind arising cease to engage it. Always rely upon a happy mind. What this means is that anything that is negatively influenced will lead to bad results always, whereas if you rely upon a happy mind, in general, only good things will happen.

As you are on this site i will give you two points to consider that will influence your mind in a positive direction whenever you are stuck.

1. What others think of me is not a cause of my happiness.
2. My thoughts are fleeting, momentary, if i watch them i see thay arise and pass away.

If you get stuck, just watch your thoughts without engaging them, experience them, then let them go.
