Ok maybe the relationship break-up one was a bad example.

I mean look at the front page now. "What a pointless life". That doesn't bother anyone else reading that? You get up and go to work, THAT IS GOOD. You have a job, that is a great thing. Now stop complaining and dragging everyone else down.

Although I agree with you that stewing in negativity is not the best course, this is a support site and people are allowed to vent and knock themselves down and go to the fullest extremes of self-flagellation. It would not be a support site otherwise.

The goal however is to actually try and help people out of these moods and not get angry or judgmental simply because we do not share in it.

Sorry, but I disagree. This may well be the only outlet some people have for how they are really feeling. Who are we to deny them that?

Well said. ^

I do get what the original poster is saying to some extent, but everyone needs to vent every once and a while, you know? They may not have anyone in their lives who actually takes the time to listen to them.

Nice thing to say to someone who's feeling down...

And do you think the person needs a guilt trip? There might be other things bothering them. Sure, they have a job and that's a good thing, but does that mean their issues are completely cured? We are talking about things that require treatment, even medication in some cases. Some people die from it. Most people here don't come to vent because they just had a bad day, they have serious problems!

I know you don't intend to hurt anyone and you mean well, but comments like that might do more harm than good. Think about it. Have some empathy.

I think it was quite rude of you to make reference to someones post just to try and prove your point.Way to make that person feel bad for sharing his feelings on a support site.Anyway part of depression and how it effects you is that you can't see things in a positive light even if there are good things to see.

Telling someone to stop complaining on a mental health is disrespectful. So consider this your last warning on the issue.

I have a better idea. How about you **** off and quit following me around looking for excuses to exercise your e-authority because I'll give them to you.
