New Study - Beta Blocker Kills FEAR - Hope for Us?

Hi all, I am new to this board, and this is my first post.

I came across a new study about beta blockers (aka inderal, propraonolol).

Since most of us seem to have this fear of social situations, I am wondering what you guys think of this study. Apparently, it tends to show that inderal can eradicate the "startle response", and I think we all know what that feels like.

What's your interpretation? Hope forus?

My interpretation is that I took the medication and it did nothing to stop the panic. That's just my experience though.

I was prescribed the regular starting dose by my psychiatrist and took it for about two months. I experienced no effects whatsoever while using it or after I stopped.

Beta blockers reduce your pulse frequency. They are frequently given to treat high blood pressure.
They are also often used by artists before going on stage to cover up symptoms of stage fright. However, they do not remove fear, just the typical symptoms of fear, like racing heartbeat.
I don't know about this particular pill, but I honestly don't believe in the "wonder pill" thing that cures anxiety. I took beta blockers for quite some time due to my high blood pressure and I concur with SilentType, they will not reduce fear, only pulse. This will somewhat calm you down since the typical alarm signal doesn't ring, though.
