My talk with Dr. Nielson

So I talked to Dr. Neilson who is a leader in the treatment of hyeprhidrosis. He told me he cuts just above the T2 glanglia. He also has done a lot of clamp removals that have failed. He told me with T2 you will not likely sweat on the face but after a T3 or T4 you could have actually more facial sweating and compensatory sweating. Plus you are left with more moisture on the palms and stuff. He seems like an honest guy but he could just be a smooth talker. For the feet the surgery only works 50% and is unpredictable.

I've talked to many leading surgeons who perform ETS and they all differ on thier apporach. But one thing they have in common is that they all admit that the patient will experience some Comensatory sweating and that there is no way to determine who will get it and how severe it will be.

Surfsider,

Thanks for the information. I've too considered talking to a surgeon. However, my luck would be compensatory issues that I would rather not have. I think I'll stick to what I've got at this point too.

Action Date: 02/05/2010

Description: ON FEBRUARY 5, 2010, THE BOARD AND DAVID HUGH NIELSON, M.D., ENTERED INTO AN AGREED ORDER REQUIRING DR. NIELSON TO COMPLETE 15 HOURS CME IN MEDICAL RECORD-KEEPING, RISK MANAGEMENT AND ETHICS WITHIN ONE YEAR; AND PAY AN ADMINISTRATIVE PENALTY OF $4,000 WITHIN 60 DAYS.
THE ACTION WAS BASED ON THE BOARD'S FINDING THAT DR. NIELSON FAILED TO KEEP ADEQUATE MEDICAL RECORDS, FAILED TO USE PROPER DILIGENCE IN HIS PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE, AND FAILED TO ADEQUATELY SUPERVISE THE ACTIVITIES OF THOSE ACTING UNDER HIS SUPERVISION.

THE BOARD FOUND THAT DIGITAL PHOTOS THAT WERE PART OF PATIENT RECORDS WERE INADVERTENTLY DELETED AND THAT DR. NIELSON AUTHORIZED A PERSON TO REPRESENT HIS CLINIC AND THAT PERSON MISREPRESENTED RISKS AND PROCEDURES FOR DR. NIELSON'S TREATMENT OF ROSACEA.
