Dumb dumb dumb Public Speaking class. I am not sure why this has to be a requirement at my school. I had do do a handful of presentations in other classes...So why dedicate a whole class to torture? This semester I will have to do a total of about 7-8 presentations.

The very first one is on Weds. I have NO idea what I am going to do. It's an "About Me" presentation - 2-4 minutes long. We have to bring in 4 objects that symbolize these questions:

1) How do you see/view yourself?
2) How do you think others view you?
3) How don't you want others to view you?
4) How do you want to see yourself in the future?

I don't know what type of objects to bring in. I am curious to see what you guys would do if you were assigned this presentation. What 4 items would you choose? I only have one in mind.. Maybe a paintbrush or book for question 1. Please help!

   this is interesting

1) An egg...having all the potential in the world just waiting to hatch
2) (God this is the worst one!) a rubix cube  ...hard to figure out.
3)A puppet...pull my strings and watch me go
4)A magic wand...being able to create anything from nothing

What do you think?

Oh, gees! What a thing to do as a SP ...yet it may just be THE thing to do!

How about these....

1. A mirror.
-because a mirror is HOW I see my self (...ha ha ha!!! :p )
....and if you wanted to be an extra clever smart-arse, you could add, that this mirror symbolises "speculative thought", a philsophical principle which is the only way in which to know oneself (if you need more info, check out the first page or so of the article I posted in "A philosophy on Anxiety" thread, and take it from there)

2. A cow's eye.
-because others view you with their eyes, and you couldn't manage to get a human eye so you used a cow's as a substitute
-or you could bring a projector, to symbolise how others project their own unconcious characteristics onto you and thus do not truly see you just as you are

3. A photograph of you on the toilet
-because this is how you don't want others to view you
(you could choose a photo of you on the toilet as a little child, which is less embarrassing; and preferably pick a photo that doesn't show too much either)

4. A crystal ball
-because some people use crystal balls to look into the future.
(....but this doesn't make as much sense since it is how do you WANT to see your self in the future)

...in which case, you could produce 'nothing' saying only that there is no such thing as 'the future', just as there is no such thing as 'the past'; there is only the continuous moment of 'now'.
:D
