My Hyperhidrosis Story

Hello everyone, I am 19 years old male Hyperhidrosis sufferer. I've had it for well over 9 years now and have been doing my best just trying to get by. To sum up which kind of HH I have is a bit difficult because my Dermatologist and PC Physician don't even know what to classify it as. So here's my best assessment; I have moderate-severe HH in my hands, feet, and armpits as well as generalized HH thought the rest of my body. I've gone through every treatment in the book (biofeedback, topical antiperspirants, oral medications, iontophoresis, and botox) and had little to no results. The only treatment I got partial relief from was glycopurolate. Unfortunately after taking it for awhile I had to up the dosage because it was losing effect, but then the side effects outweighed the gains. So I decided to try a different dermatologist because the only option I had left with the other one was ETS. The new dermatologist found one other avenue I could take in beta blockers. I was happy to hear this because not only do I have HH but I also have a high heart rate and problems with too much adrenaline. So i started taking the beta blocker yesterday (Clonidine .2mg) and apart from a little drowsiness I had never felt better. This gives me hope that my HH is possibly secondary and not primary like my first dermatologist had thought. If I just had sweating I would believe I had primary, but the fact that all my other ailments got better makes me wonder if it is a gland or other medical condition causing it. Is this worth pursuing with my Primary care physician (from a testing cost stand point) or should I just suck it up and live with the sweating?

Thanks for sharing your findings. Does the Clonidine make you sweat less or does it just help with heart rate?

Well you should never give up, and pursue it with your physician. Don't put a price on your hapiness.

I am a rare case whereby I don't have sweating issues on my hands and feet too much, and not really that much in my arm pits, but I literally sweat from everywhere else: back, chest, groin, butt, legs, arms. I take medication to control it, so I can reduce the sweating from 500% =P to a more manageable level. I used to take Robinul, however, I switched to pro-banthine. Talk to your dermatologist about it.

so how do you compare the side effects of robinul to probanthine??
i was using robinul but it would only work if i hadnt eaten yet that day. is probanthine the same? and if i was in a really hot and humid place it would do basically nothing for me. so i kind of gave up on the robinul for now even though i have many left that i spent a fortune on!! also to the person on clonidine how is that working?? i was considering clonidine too but heard so many complaints of the drowsiness?

Here are some benefits and side effects of three drugs
Robinul: Controls sweating in my hands and fee the best. Side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, head ache, frequent urination, and of course blurred vision (with all three)

Pro Banthine: Is most affective at controlling sweating in back and chest. It's side effects include extreme dry mouth, and difficulty eating. Also there is a strange ringing in my left ear. Like someone's in there tugging on my ear drum every once in a while.

Sweatosan: Is most affective at controlling sweating in my groin area. Side effects include bladder pains.

The whole not working after you eat would explain why I start sweating like crazy around 2:00 pm.

I'm gonna give those calcium blockers a chance
