Method that works for me when I talk

Today I was hanging out with two of my friends and I felt a little anxiety at first because the last time I was with them I was pretty quiet and for some reason I thought they were going to bring that up but lucky for me they didn't, anyways I spent about three hours with them and for those three hours I actually opened up and made conversation. I noticed that when I look at the person I talk to I get more anxiety because of eye contact and when you make eye contact you get the pressure to talk but today while I was talking with my friends I looked at the wall while I was talking not in a weird way but like I was thinking but talking at the same time( I was sitting facing the wall . It seemed to work for me really well because to me it gives the affect that your not really talking to anyone. Other things can be like watching t.v. and talking then making eye contact when you finish talking so you don't come off as rude.Basically if theres a way to avoid eye contact when saying something take the opportunity and see how much your anxiety gos away. ~Hope this helps~.

I think that you bring a very good point. I have read many times that eye contact is very important so I force myself to always have eye contact when talking to someone. I wonder if too much eye contact is actually wrose because many times I end up feeling weird.

Too much eye contact can seem attention seeking and when they give you attention you become uncomfortable ...so it can seem weird but when you make eye contact once in a while it gives off a natural vibe.
