hi there,

I think meditation or yoga or even taichi might be able to calm a person down. I am thinkin g of attending some classes. I want to achieve peace of mind, is this a good way?

I have a tendency to get excited and nervous easily, I want to have more control over my emotions, is meditation/yoga a good way to achieve this?

Definitely a good a idea, cool.

I think in all three of the so-called disciplines, they teach you breathing and calming techniques which is something you really need when coping with the symptoms of SA.

I hear power yoga is even better. Not as boring and you get more of an exercise along the way.

Go for it!! and let us know how it goes! :D

Never tried yoga but I know that meditation can reap some great benifets. besides calming you down you can achieve higher states of awareness, i find it all very interesting, try looking up astral projection that is some fascinating stuff, its along the same line but taking it a few steps further.

Yoga helps me feel calm while I am doing it, after I am done and go outside I feel the same anxious feelings. It doesn't seem to be changing me. I haven't done it regularly though, maybe I should try it everyday or something.

I'd say try both! For me, meditation has a more calming effect but I'm sure everyone is different. But just trying these things to promote calmness and security is great.

Yeah they're both good. I went to a yoga class once and loved the stuff, but I never went back due to getting too nervous about it :( But recently I started doing a bit of yoga by myself at home (you can find some good sites with directions, pictures and videos showing you what to do) and it feels great :D Really energising and relaxing.

Meditation is very good too but it takes a while to get the hang of it. There are lots of different techniques and I guess the most basic is just being still and focussing on breathing. I like to use some Buddhist methods because I find them very calming. The only thing I would recommend is that you stick with it because at first it can be very tricky to know if you're doing it 'right', and really you just have to figure out the best way for you,
