Just started using home made iontophoresis device, got some questions

I made a very simple iontophoresis device, I just used two connected 9v batteries, alligator clip wires and two plastic bowls. I measured the current in the water and it is a bit over 18v.

I have used it twice. I do 10 - 15 minutes and then reverse polarity and do another 10 - 15 minutes. I will keep using it daily and see how it goes.

Am I doing everything correct so far? Do I need more voltage? More/less time?

My hands get tingly and can feel very itchy during the treatment and they itch for a few minutes after finishing the treatment.

My hands are completely dry right after doing a treatment, so I guess this will eventually work, right?

For those who have made their own machine, what did you use to make it? How well did it work and how long before your hands stopped sweating completely or almost completely?

Thanks for any info.

I don't know how severe your hyperhidrosis is, I have them in my hands and feet, but im more concerned with my hands since it affects my daily life the most. Anyway I used to make my own iontophoresis device as well when i was in the US, followed the shannon guy's videos exactly, even bought the exact same batteries, added salt and stuff, but long story short, it did not work for me at all, it might have helped a LITTLE bit, like 10%, but it's just as bad cuz those homemade devices have low amperage. I eventually bought the idromed 5 DC from markus and it's soooo much better, my hands are pretty much like a normal person's now, doesnt sweat at all. When you do the treatments for the first time, it'll take quite a few times, took maybe 15 treatments (15 days) to see results. It's quite weird, during the 3rd or 4th day, all of a sudden, you'll feel like you sweat a lot more than usual, but once you reach the 6th 7th day and onwards, you'll start noticing dryness on your palm, then your finger tips (the hardest areas to achieve dryness). My advice to you is, just bite the bullet and buy the real thing. It's a small price to pay for a life changing experience, trust me, I've been there done that. Hope that helps you :)

I did have some sucess with a homemade machine, the first time I achieved dryness I did 10-15 mins on each polarity for 10 dys and a couple of days after I stopped treatments I was really dry, I let it run its course to see how long this would last and I was dry for about 3 weeks, then it started to come back on the fingers and center of the palm, eventually it was completely back. Its all about finding a way to keep up the dryness with top-up treatments, this is the part where I fail mostly, i've tried a few methods such as weekly or once or twice a week but I havent found a times per week/time on each polarity combo that has worked for me yet. Usually if you screw up you will have to let your hands have a few weeks rest to start fresh.

I used two metal pie dishes attatched by wires and crock clips to 3 or 4 6V batteries, sometimes I had better results with 24V sometimes 18V was better.

as for the itchyness, use vaseline on the waterline and any cuts to ease the stinging, good luck! hope you find a method that works, just start simple and i'd advise writing down what works and what doesnt, I sure wish I had! lol :)

I did 4 treatments, one each day, I haven't done it again because I just moved and I have a lot of stuff to do. I'll continue doing treatments as soon as I can find some time.

From the 4 treatments I did I can tell it sort of worked, I'd say about 50% sweat reduction. At times my hands super dry I needed to apply some moisturizer.

I didn't know about the vaseline, good to know, so you always apply it on the waterline before each treatment.?

I can't afford to buy one of the expensive machines right now. While reading a little about them I see the best most expensive use pulsed current. This got me thinking, what if I just used one of those interferential therapy devices, they also produce pulsed current and the amperage can be also be controlled. Do you think these would work?
